NEXUS and Different & Equal Workshop on Reintegration Guide Series (December 2021)

15 December 2021 – NEXUS and Different & Equal (D&E) hosted a virtual workshop with practitioners from government and civil society throughout Albania to discuss and validate three reintegration guides that have jointly been prepared in the framework of the project Providing Comprehensive Reintegration Services and Improving the Protection Framework for Victims of Trafficking in Albania.

These forthcoming reintegration guides explore under-considered issues in trafficking victim reintegration, including how to support the children of trafficking victims, the different stages of reintegration and how to mentor trafficking victims during reintegration. These guides are based on two decades of reintegration work in Albania, as well as the experiences of trafficking victims, and offer guidance on how to address key issues and obstacles.

These guides will be of interest to a broad audience of reintegration practitioners in Albania, including social workers and social assistants, psychologists and counselors, child protection workers, healthcare providers, lawyers and paralegals, shelter staff, public administrators, educators and school administrators, professionals working on economic empowerment, and others. The guides will also be helpful to reintegration practitioners in other countries who are constrained in their daily work by the lack of practical tools and resources for tackling these complex issues.

This workshop provided an opportunity for participants to learn about the guides and to share their experience and knowledge. It was also an opportunity to discuss how the guides can be implemented and operationalized in day-to-day reintegration work in Albania.

The published reintegration guides are forthcoming and will be available in English and Albanian on the NEXUS Institute website and through D&E.
